A Prickly Visitor!

We were very surprised to see a beautiful hedgehog in our school grounds today. The senior infants were very lucky to get up close and have a good look at it.

When we went back to our classroom we learned that hedgehogs like to eat snails, slugs and other insects. Hedgehogs have prickly spines to protect them from predators. Hedgehogs are nocturnal, this means that they come out at night to hunt. Our hedgehog must have decided that he wanted to see how our school looks in the daytime!
